SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — According to the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) latest report, statewide home sales (including single family and condominiums) in September 2011 totaled 9,182 homes sold, up 13.5 % from 8,088 home sales in September 2010. The statewide median price in September was $136,850, down 5.6 % from $145,000 in September 2010. The median is a typical market price where half the homes sold for more, half sold for less.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — According to the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) latest report, statewide home sales (including single family and condominiums) in August 2011 totaled 10,622 homes sold, up 25.9 percent from 8,434 home sales in August 2010. The statewide median price in August was $149,000, down 5.4 percent from $157,500 in August 2010. The median is a typical market price where half the homes sold for more, half sold for less.

Foreclosure activity in Illinois for 2011’s first six months fell 29 percent on a year-over-year basis but mortgage servicers ramped up their activity in June, RealtyTrac reported Thursday.
In Illinois last month, 6,541 homes received initial foreclosure filings, while another 1,944 properties were scheduled for court-ordered auctions and 2,529 properties were repossessed by lenders, the company said in its monthly report. Altogether, foreclosure activity in June rose 4 percent from May but was still down 25 percent from a year earlier.
